No Surprises Act/Good Faith Estimate

No Surprises Act/Good Faith Estimate

The No Surprises Act is part of the Consolidated Appropriation Act of 2021 and is designed to protect you from receiving unexpected medical bills. The Good Faith Estimate provision of the No Surprises Act is designed to provide you with an estimate of how much you will be charged for the therapy you will be receiving over an estimated period, prior to beginning mental health services.

State-licensed mental healthcare providers are required to provide a Good Faith Estimate of charges to every new and continuing client who’s either uninsured or isn’t planning to submit a claim to their insurance for the services they’re seeking. I also am required to inform every uninsured or self-pay client of their right to receive a Good Faith Estimate.

If you do not have insurance or have insurance but do not intend to use it to cover the cost of mental health services that you are seeking, I will provide you with a Good Faith Estimate prior to the start of regular sessions.

If you have any questions regarding either the No Surprises Act or the Good Faith Estimate I provide you with (if you are self-pay) please do not hesitate to talk to me for further clarification.
